Our carefully picked, local team works together to bring to you the best Sahara desert experience possible. Each of our guides was born in the desert into a Saharawi nomadic family. After 10+ years of experience, they are ready to give you a safe, high-quality, and authentic Morocco desert adventure.

For us, eco-tourism preserves our nomadic culture. This way of life, so important to our ancestors for generations, was lost when many nomads settled down due to climate change. Through our authentic Sahara tours, we can still teach others how nomads in the desert moved, survived––and thrived––in this unique and beautiful landscape. Our rich stories, unique techniques for everyday life, and tasty traditional meals, are all celebrated on our Morocco desert tours.

I was born and raised in the Sahara in a nomadic family. When my family settled in my teenage years, I worked hard to learn English, and started to work hard as a camel guide with many local companies to support my family. After years of experience in tourism, working my way up in the business, I decided to make my own eco-tourism company that would benefit my community. I love every grain of sand in the desert, and I deeply enjoy sharing the beautiful landscape I grew up in with travellers from around the world.

3 jours dans le désert marocain avec Chegaga spirit un immense merci à Said et son équipe pour nous avoir fait partager ces moments magiques... 3 nuits dans le désert, une journée de marche (2h matin +2h aprem donc tranquille et facile), une nuit à la belle étoile, l'ascension des dunes de Chegaga, la découverte des traces de fennecs, lézards, oiseaux, scarabées,... au petit matin et des soirées musiques inoubliables. Magic I love looking back at my time in the desert with Said...I came with my little puppy Marley who was very welcome. We stayed for a few months and the desert became our home. Waking up with the sun in silence to the purity and vastness of the desert. Warm and beautiful colours in the sky and hot mint tea in community in the early hours. Music and great food in the evening. Breathtaking sunsets, sunrises, nightskys. The air is so fresh and pure. Time to read, think, breath, move, create, integrate, elevate and just be. Its a place to humble your soul and cleanse your mind. Life in the desert is simple...and I remember feeling more fullfilled than ever. Expérience magique dans le désert avec Said de Chegaga Spirit Nous avons passé 4 jours de rêve avec l'équipe de Said de Chegaga Spirit. Accueillis par une équipe de jeunes gens très professionnels et en même temps très sympatiques. Ces enfants de nomades nous guident dans le désert, nous montrent les oasis, les convois de dromadaires... Nous avons dormi dans des bivouacs ou à la belle étoile, avons marché dans les dunes. C'était vraiment magique. Notre fils a même fait du surf dans les dunes pendant qu'on se régalait d'une omelette berbère et de thé à la menthe. C'était une ronde bien menée.

Best experience in Morocco desert I have been to the desert twice with the Chegaga Spirit team and everything was perfect. They are all very welcoming, as Moroccan people are known to be, and everything is planned to make your experience out of the ordinary. Although the desert may seem like a hostile environment, Said, Ahmed and their friends know this place inside out and you will be safe no matter what. We opted for a trip on foot with the camels to carry the stuff, and a return to the camp by 4x4. If you like walking and you have time, this is probably the best option and the hike is very accessible. The best is to go in winter to avoid too high temperatures. The evenings under a starry sky with the Milky Way and shooting stars were punctuated by excellent meals and music around the campfire and very enriching conversations. With them, I really feel like I am in my family. The camp at Chegaga is very comfortable and well equipped. We never lacked for anything, quite the contrary. I sincerely thank Said and his team for everything, he is an excellent guide who has a special place in my heart. You understood it: you can trust Chegaga Spirit with closed eyes, you will not be disappointed! I will return with great pleasure! <3

wonderful desert excursion We had never spent a night in the desert and were uncertain how it would be – and it was great: so peaceful and quiet! We felt perfectly safe and comfortable during the 3 night (4 day) trekking to Erg Chigaga. You get to see the sandy dunes but also the different desert land-scapes on the way there, and the walking is perfectly fine if you do some basic sport (we are 48 and 54 and had no problem at all). Said is a local guide who spent his early childhood in the desert and formed a great team with Ali (together with two friendly camels, of course). The whole trip felt authentic and touristic at the same time (with extended lunch breaks dur-ing midday when the sun is strongest and comfortable dinners around the fire, prepared by Said and Ali). If you book with them, the money goes directly to the locals, not to travel agencies in Marrakesh or elsewhere (don’t hesitate to pay a deposit via online transfer, we did the same and it worked perfectly well). In short: unconditional recommendation!

Amazing! Especially the food. The experience was amazing. We traveled from Marrakech to the desert and when we arrived, we found ourselves at the foot of the desert. We were greeted by a couple of very gentle guys. They brought us Moroccan tea and we started our conversation with them. To our surprise, their English was implacable. They showed us around and we got to choose 3 cabins to sleep in. After we had some drinks, made some photos, and finished our conversations, they brought us 2 tajines that were even better than the ones we ordered at very good restaurants in Marrakesh. The food was outstanding! Perfect! We slept outside and enjoyed the sky and all its magnificent stars. This trip was well worth it. Next time we will spend a couple of days to be able to see more of the Sahara. We didn’t have a lot of time, so only stayed for the night. But considering the way we were treated, I guess you can trust these guys to provide you with an unforgettable Sahara journey.

Amazing experience in desert camp What a fantastic experience! We were welcomed by very hospitable hosts. We immediately felt very comfortable with them. The camp is located at the beginning of the desert overlooking the sand dunes. After a short walk through the Sahara we enjoyed a beautiful sunset, a delicious traditional Moroccan meal and live music by the hosts. The starry sky is amazing! The next morning we were surprised with a delicious breakfast. There is a toilet and shower facility available and that is nice because after a few hours Sahara sand is everywhere. The beds are clean and made with care. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. On location, it appears that there are all kinds of options with regard to food and extra excursions. A glimpse into life in the desert and an experience i will never forget!

Loving the Dessert and M'Hamid. My Daughter and I stayed with Said for ten days. We toured the dessert and M'Hamid. We also sang songs at campfires and met a few other new friends from Korea and Germany. We had a great time.

Magical night under the stars I booked a one-night 4x4 excursion to Erg Chegaga and it was the highlight of my trip to Morocco. As a solo female traveler, I did a lot of research looking for the right company, and I could not have made a better choice. Said and his friends are truly kind people. I felt like an honored guest in their desert home. Communication was excellent. The food was plentiful and delicious. The sand, sun, moon, and stars will take your breath away, but it is the hosts at Chegaga Spirit that make this experience truly magical.
